India Tour West Indies 1st Test: The Windies Struggle vs India

After a disastrous World Cup Qualifying campaign in Zimbabwe, the West Indies’ poor form continues as they take on India in Roseau, Dominica. Stumps on day 2 of the 5-day test match has the hosts trailing by 162 runs having scored 150 runs in their first innings and the Indians cruising at 312/2

The story of the test match is 21-year-old debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal. The babyface youngster from Uttar Pradesh batted throughout the day scoring an unbeaten 143 on his international debut. On a pitch that took Virat Kholi 80 balls to score a boundary, Jaiswal stood up to the Windies’ attack batting like a seasoned professional.

India looks for good money for their lead and it is hard to see a way back for the Windies. Kohli, currently on 36 runs looks to have a century in him following Jaiswal’s 143 and Rohit Sharma’s 103.

Questions are being asked about what has happened to West Indian cricket but that’s for another discussion. The Windies have a tall order ahead of them and time will tell how the tie unravels.
